The Cambridge Higher Business-English Certificate [BECH]
The Cambridge BECH is an upper-intermediate level qualification, equivalent to ALTE Level 4 [The Association of Language Testers in Europe]. This corresponds to level C1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The examination comprises four papers that are designed to assess the candidate's skills in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. Each of the four skills represents twenty-five per cent of the total examination mark. The three pass-grades that are awarded are 'A', 'B', and 'C'.
Passing the BECH examination demonstrates a level of English sufficient for working in a managerial or professional
capacity, and the ability to deal with all forms of written and spoken English, such as books, memoranda, articles, reports, business letters, minute-taking, and engaging in dialogue and verbal presentations.
The BECH is valid for life, and serves as evidence of the holder's ability to function at most levels in commerce and industry.
