The Cambridge First Certificate in English [FCE]

The Cambridge FCE is an intermediate level qualification, equivalent to ALTE Level 3 [The Association of Language Testers in Europe]. This corresponds to level B2 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The examination comprises five papers that are designed to assess the candidate's skills in Reading, Writing, Use of English, Listening, and Speaking. Each paper represents twenty per cent of the total examination mark.
The three pass-grades that are awarded are 'A', 'B', and 'C'.
The FCE signifies a knowledge of English sufficient for clerical, secretarial, and lower-managerial jobs in most of industry and commerce, and it denotes an ability to deal with routine letters and telephone enquiries, and to participate in routine conversations and meetings.
The qualification is valid for life, and it is the logical foundation for a C1-level course that leads to the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English [CAE].
