The Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English [CPE]

The Cambridge CPE is a very advanced qualification, equivalent to ALTE Level 5 [The Association of Language Testers in Europe]. This corresponds to level C2 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The examination comprises five papers that are designed to assess the candidate's skills in Reading, Writing, Use of English, Listening, and Speaking. Each paper represents twenty per cent of the total examination mark.
The three pass-grades that are awarded are 'A', 'B', and 'C'.
The CPE signifies a knowledge of English similar to that of an educated native speaker, and it denotes ability to use the language in any situation, including medium- and higher-management roles in commerce, industry, government, and the professions.
Moreover, the CPE is accepted by universities, including Oxbridge, and colleges of higher education, as evidence of ability to use English at all levels of learning, research, and teaching.
The CPE is valid for life.
